Cultivating Happiness

Is happiness a chance of luck? A stroke of good fortune?

Does happiness depend upon specific conditions being present ?

Is happiness fleeting? Easy come, easy go?

How do you "get" happy?  By chasing it, is it found at the end of a rainbow, find a silver lining, or can you wish upon a star?

It Is Possible To Cultivate Happiness

We have more control over our experience of happiness than most people think. Happiness is not the absence of depression, anxiety, or difficult situations, it is not a turn of the tide. Despite what many tell you, you can choose steps towards happiness. Happiness, peace, and joy are within the realm of intention, these states of being are not control by circumstances.

I have experienced nearly crippling depression, and anxiety. I am not stating that it is personal failure when a person experiences depression or difficult emotions. I am not saying to try harder to acheive happiness. I know that there are days when the choice to get out bed was took tremendous strength.

From A Neutral State To Happiness

The times when we are experiencing a neutral state of emotions is when we can begin to cultivate happiness. Intentionally choose joy. Choosing joy and happiness is not an elaborate undertaking.

These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things

Pina Coladas
Getting caught in the rain
Daphodils
Green Meadows
Skys full of stars
Whiskers on kittens
Raindrops on roses

You know the songs... what are your favorite things? If you know, then find small ways to daily incorporate your favorite things. If you don't know your favorite things, then it is exciting that you can experiment until you find your favorite things. They don't need to be elaborate. Keep it simple:

Walking in the grass barefoot

Exercise

Eating Chocolate or Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

Prayer & Meditation

Gardening

Comfy Clothes

Reading

Music

Having a made bed before you fall asleep

Feeding or Watching birds

Dancing when no one is watching

Singing  and blasting music in your car

Calling a friend

Playing Candy Crush

Smelling the roses

Drinking tea or coffee

Creating

Seeing the Sunset

.....

For the most part, there is no right or wrong. Do you know what makes you happy, smile, and forget about time? If not, you deserve to discover your happy!
